Buckeye Lake
Buckeye Lake has had many “lives” in its history. It was originally constructed in 1830 as part of the Ohio and Erie Canal system. The lake became a public park in 1894 and in 1931 an amusement park was built on the lake which was a major Ohio attraction. In 1949 the 3,000 acre lake was designated a state park, Ohio’s oldest. A $100M dam restoration project ushered in a vision to make the Buckeye Lake Region the most popular year-round tourist destination in the Midwest. Buckeye Lake is a very dynamic environment that continues to evolve.
Metro Columbus
Heron Bay is only 30 miles from Ohio’s capital and largest city. The city has a diverse economy including the fast growing sectors of education and health, transportation and utilities, and professional and business services. High-technology industries and manufacturing are also key areas. Currently the Greater Columbus area is home to the headquarters of six corporations in the U.S. Fortune 500. Buckeye Lake
